OUGD602 - Learning 3D Printer Software

After reaching the final stages of judging in the 'Starpack Student Awards' responsive brief for OUGD503, they asked the finalists to send in any physical mock ups they had created for the competition. This was not a mandatory requirement for the brief however, I felt that it would bolster my chances of winning if I also managed to create a detailed maquette.

Therefore, I reached out to some of the institutions around Leeds which may have 3D printing services available such as Leeds College of Building and Leeds School of Architecture (Leeds Beckett). Thankfully, one of the staff at Leeds Beckett said that he would help but as he was so busy with final deadlines, I would have to download the software and create the 3D digital shape myself. This was a great opportunity to learn a new piece of software and after a few youtube tutorials, I managed to precisely craft the shape needed to scale. This was then uploaded
ready to begin the 3D printing production process.
