OUGD502 - Landscape Photographer of the Year Exhibition - Leeds Train Station

Whilst waiting for the train in Leeds Train Station, I noticed a put up exhibition called the Landscape Photographer of the Year Exhibition. I found this a really interesting approach to displaying work as a creative, it opens the potential target audience up substantially. Exhibitions in places such as bus stations, train stations and airports potentially give the opportunity for a wide variety of people from all over the world to view the work displayed.

The cross section layout and design if the exhibition is also an area which has been contemplated by the designers. This format in particular allows simple assembly and the ability to transport the exhibition easily. This is crucial when the exhibition space is as manoeuvrable as this gallery.

I have also found a variety of new photographers which I now follow on social media.

OUGD502 - Reflecting on The Bankhouse Exhibition

Looking back on the success of our exhibition has made me come to realise that if you have confidence and faith in your work, you can start to represent yourself as an industry professional instead of just a student. Having my work on display for the first time and seeing professional artists coming to view my work has imbedded some faith in my own self confidence. I am hoping that this experience will help me to expand upon my connections and notability with in the creative industries and help me to stop thinking of myself as just a student but instead, an emerging professional.

I have started to notice the importance of the exhibition and how connections can be made with other artists through these experiences. I also intend to visit lots more exhibitions myself in an attempt to build upon my self confidence when approaching other artists. I have discovered that by simply speaking to other people at exhibitions and giving feedback, I can start to build relationships with people interested in similar fields and career paths to myself.

OUGD502 - Using Contextual Product Placement Photography To Sell Online

I have used my product photography workshop to help plan and inform a photoshoot to sell my BMX. I have used my knowledge on contextual placement and taken the bike up to a skatepark to help direct the item towards the desired target audience. I originally bought the bike off Gumtree for £100 and due to the new informed photography, have already managed to have 3 offers for £160 in the last 4 days. This has proven just how much of a difference some successful photography can make when selling a product.

The image below was the original gumtree advertisement which was showcased for £130 and sold to me by the previous owner for £100. My photography increased the value of the item by 60% when I came round to selling the bike on.

OUGD502 - Screen Printing For Money is? Exhibition - Traditional Print Group Work

Once I had conducted my photoshoot for the digital print team, I went to see if the screen printing team needed any help as I have wanted to experiment with screen printing all year but never had chance. I found that this opportunity was extremely beneficial in developing my traditional printing methods and has now given me further knowledge which can benefit my future brief design decisions.

OUGD502 - Coors Light Can - Reflecting on Pressision Inks & Possibilities

After returning from Pressision Printing, I started to notice the different inks and stocks in use in the world around me. For example, the Coors Light Can below has temperature changing ink which makes the mountains turn from white to blue when the can goes cold. I remembered this being one of the ink choices available at the printers and am now starting to notice ways which this technique can be utilised into real world helpful situations.

OUGD502 - Pressision Creative Print & Finishing - Visit

Personally, I found this trip to Pressision Printing extremely beneficial to my practice and my knowledge as an emerging designer. It has opened my mind to the possibilities that are available to me giving me a better knowledge of different print methods, binding, ink and stock which i can integrate into my conceptual practice. I really believe that this has been the most influential trip to date and will hugely impact my future design concepts. I am eager to utilise these facilities and am thinking about possibly trying out some print methods before my Level 5 study starts in September.

OUGD502 - Photography for 'Money is?' Exhibition - Digital Group Work

For the Money is? Exhibition, I have been assigned to the photography and digital media team and therefore, conducted a large 500+ shot photoshoot of money related objects around leeds. I have also taken images of The Bunkhouse and other architecture and business men around Leeds. The images below are the first images which I have edited from the photoshoot which were then passed onto the leaflet & flyer design team. These images include some luxury money shots of expensive cars from the 'Kahn' car dealership in Leeds city centre. I am still currently editing and then working on some film for the motion graphics of the event.
