Our visit to evolution print was extremely beneficial to my practice, mainly specialising in book design, I got to learn much more about the processes and ask some insightful questions which have allowed me to better understand each stage of the book and printing process. I now have a greater understanding of the pricing ranges between litho and digital, and the limitations and benefits of the two. I have already begun speaking to the staff via email about my next project, and hope to have a meeting in the near future.
Unlike the previous book I made which needed printing plates (costing around £1000), the next project will only be a short print run, therefore, I have decided to use digital printing in order to keep the project as cost effective as possible.
The samples given out are also extremely helpful to understand what effects certain processes and finished will have on a design. They also gave us a copy of 'Noisefive' from 'Attik', and having already purchased 'Noisefour' last year, this will add nicely to my collection. The aesthetic styles within these books have a huge impact on my style as a designer as I aim to establish a similar postmodern design within my own work.
