OUGD502 - The Whitworth Exhibition
I have recently visited the Whitworth Exhibition in Manchester and taken a photoshoot concentrating on the artwork, layout, way finding and signage systems in place. I particularly like the idea of including chairs within the exhibition design for people to take around the space. The exhibition has opted for a very minimalistic style of presentation often having very small pieces along a large blank wall. I personally found the whole building very interesting inside and out, the architecture and surrounding areas are incredible.

OUGD502 - OUGD406 Secret 7 After Project Advancements
The two album covers below have been created after the Secret 7 deadline using some new photography taken in Australia. I feel that it is important as a designer to reflect on deceased projects and evaluate what you would have done the second time around or if you were given more time. On this occasion, instead of just evaluating what I would have done, I went back and continued the project even after the deadline was finished. I believe that this re-evaluation and reflection of briefs is crucial to learning from my mistakes and helping my development as a designer.
The concept for 'The Less I Know The Better' was to try to catch the pages flipping over in the wind to partially hide some of the cassette and sound wave. I also wanted to bring through the female artists gender using a bed of wine bottle corks to symbolise women.

OUGD502 - Extended Secret 7 Photoshoot
Whilst in Australia, I expanded on my deceased project by further developing my concepts after the end of the submission. Even though I didn't get chosen for Secret 7, I still feel that it is important to be as ambitious as possible and continue to re evaluate and build upon projects even after the project has ended. These shots are what I would have liked to accomplish however, it was not possible in the time scale of the Secret 7 Deadline.

OUGD502 - Visiting The Manchester Art Gallery
Whilst home and shopping in Manchester city centre, I decided to visit the Manchester Art Gallery. This specific exhibition at the Manchester Art Gallery had some interesting aspects such as the textured walls and the paw prints on the floors for the way finding systems.

OUGD502 - Westons Barbers - Photoshoot - Perth, Western Australia
Before travelling out to Australia, I approached Westons Barbers in Perth and set up a photoshoot for them in their store. This is an example of becoming more confident within my practice and starting to reach out more to other designers and creative professionals. This job was entirely created by simply a message and has further expanded my contacts in the creative industry. Even though this was unpaid work, who knows what other possibilities this could open up through the distribution of these shots on the barbers side. It will also be great for my online portfolios and blogs.

OUGD502 - Dance Photoshoot for Vanguard Performing Arts
Whilst in Australia, I conducted a beach photoshoot for Vanguard Performing Arts Studio in Perth. These included some model head shots and dance poses to use for professional dance profiles.
The shot above was taken at a different location to create a more contemporary environment and aura. The palm tree, river and lighting are elements which all add a different style to desaturated imagery.

OUGD502 - Unique Brand Identities
Whilst looking around the malls in Australia, I came across unusual branding which is not located in England. Some of these franchises use branding techniques which are unique to anything I have seen before.
The Java Juice franchise for example, uses astro turf fake grass material to represent an organic natural aesthetic to the background of the branding. This combined with the wood and lighting creates a really modern twist on authentic organic stalls.
The clothes store T2 also uses a variety of materials to represent an industrial theme to the store. This coloured pattern using wood creates depth and texture to the wall instead of the usual flat typography.

OUGD502 - Contextual Barber Shop Interior Design
During my visit to Australia, I noticed this contextual interior design inside a barber shop. By using hair brushes to construct a lamp, the designer has managed to create a unique piece of art which has a use and foreshadows the function of the shop. Just by looking at this piece of interior, a client can recognise that the shop must be in the hair industry. This is an interesting approach which thinks outside the box when creating a brand identity for the store.

OUGD502 - Australian Architecture
Whilst Studying some of the architecture around Australia, I seemed to notice a reoccurrence with extremely modernist designs. However, the house above really caught my eye as its curved art deco theme gives the building a sort of post modern aesthetic even though it holds values of modernist architecture such as being true to its materials.
The image below for example, is a typical house which is found on most of the streets in Australia. These usually follow the same guide lines being extremely conformitive and structured in modernist values.
