OUGD502 - One World Cafe - Graphics Industry Work

I have recently been hired by a small cafe in Oldham to create a banner design for their new opening. The cafe was located inside a small chapel and was in serious need of a rebrand therefore, I used some of my photography inside the cafe to create the banner designs below. The banners are now printed and located across from a busy roundabout which will hopefully give my work more noticeability by a large amount of people each day. The work was not the most exciting graphics project however, it feels amazing to see my work in large and being applied to real work situations.

OUGD502 - One World Cafe - Photography

A small cafe has paid me to come and take some primary source photographs of their food which can then be used in various pieces of graphics which is hoping to promote the new ownership of the cafe. This should be an exciting prospect as I have been given the opportunity to rebrand the whole cafe.

The design above is the current logo for the cafe, this has given me an amazing opportunity to use my skills learned from this year to analyse the bad parts of the logo to upgrade the design.

OUGD502 - 'OH OK' Open Art Show Manchester

Below are a few primary photographs which I took when visiting the OH OK Open Art Show Exhibition in Manchester. The artwork on show was from a variety of different artists which use a diverse range of techniques. The show mostly contained manual 3D pieces and some Graphic pieces. Some interesting uses of string and 3D design was integrated with some of the digital graphic pieces which made some very unique pieces of art.

OUGD502 - The ArtsMix Markets Leeds

Visiting the Artsmix Markets gave me the opportunity to buy some new arts supplies in preparation for next year. The artists on the stalls also came from a range of different backgrounds and a few of them, I have followed on Instagram and Twitter to see future pieces of their work.

OUGD502 - Henry Moore Institute - A Lesson in Sculpture with John Latham

Whilst in Leeds city centre, I visited the Henry Moore Institute as there was a sculpture exhibition on display. Unfortunately, my phone ran out of battery just as I got into the exhibition which was a shame as there was some interesting work to reflect on. Even though the exhibition was on sculpture, I find it important as a creative thinker to familiarise myself with all aspects of design as I feel that having a varied understanding of all areas will help me think outside the box with my own work to create some truly unique pieces of art.

Again this is an important lesson to always be prepared when visiting galleries and exhibitions and preferably always be carrying a camera and only using my mobile camera as a back up.

OUGD502 - 'Misple' T-Shirt Printing Design

These print and designs are the finished products from some graphics and logo designs which were completed in previous blogs. These designs are for the new up and coming clothes brand 'Misple' which I have also collaborated with in my context of practice projects.

OUGD502 - Interesting Magazine Advertising - Aftershave Samples

Reading Mens Health magazine, I noticed an advertisement for some aftershave which used a small peel back smelly tab as a way advertising the smell of the product. I found this an ingenious way of really getting across the product instead of just using pointless unrelated erotic photography of models like usual. This way of involving other senses has given me the initiative to think outside the box in future projects as this advertisement has done.
