OUGD502 - JFBS Book Sale - Informing OUGD504 Studio Brief 1

At Leeds College of Art, there has been a book sale on display recently, this is a prime opportunity to inform OUGD504 - Studio Brief 1 - Designing for Print. Some of these books such as the yellow 'Knoll Text Iles' book have a direct correlation with how I would like to produce my own publication.

OUGD502 - Leeds Digital Job Fair 2.0

Today, I visited the First Direct Arena where they held the Leeds Digital Job Fair 2.0. This was an amazing opportunity to speak to industry professionals and receive extremely beneficial feedback about working in the creative industries. It was also a great opportunity to ask about potential placements and summer internships and pass my contact information onto various design studios in leeds. There were various talks and presentations held there, one of which was from some google employees talking about industry experience.

OUGD502 - Love Arts Festival Gallery

The love arts festival gallery is being held in leeds at the moment which was a great opportunity to view some painting, photography, prints and fine art pieces of work. Some of the artists on show have now become apart of my quickly expanding social media sites and could be really influential when not only looking for some inspiring artist research, but also could be a useful contact to reach out to and possibly ask about placements, work experience or general experience from the creative network around leeds.

OUGD502 - Reflecting on Past PPP Experiences

Reviewing the previous years PPP experiences, I found that the presenting was particularly difficult, personally I believe this is because it is a completely new experience. I have never been pushed to speak infant of a large group of people before however, I think that repeating this process and confronting my fear is the best way to overcome this nerve wracking experience. In other aspects of the PPP module, I feel that I am engaging well with the independent side and taking my learning process into my own hands. I need to push on and start approaching other designers and studios in order to network more and increase my experience and contacts. I want to start experimenting with after effects in order to improve my motion graphics skills and also take my learning into my own hands by attempting to improve my illustrator and indesign skills using online tutorials.

OUGD502 - Steve Jobs Documentary

Watching the Steve Jobs film was not really influential in any creative processes but held some really interesting historical information about innovative design within the apple products. It has really given me an insight into the mind and experiences of a man who helped develop graphic design into the industry that it has become in this modern day and age.

OUGD502 - Accepted into Abandoned Photography Exhibition

My work submission has been accepted to be in the exhibition which is extremely excited as it is the first exhibition outside of the college which I am going to be featured in. This is a great opportunity to meet some contacts and possibly exchange information about each others work with other artists.
